The young female protagonist Nila (Lilith Häßle) is traumatised by a horryfing gothic tale - telling a story about a blue bearded king abducting and detaining women, brutally murdering them in the end - since her childhood. The sole mention of his name is enough to scare the living daylight out of her. She hears it everywhere, as if a choir of thousands of voices is whispering it to her.
The moment her friend Yuna (Kristin Kumria) vanishes after a long night of clubbing, Nila is convinced she fell victim to her eerie neighbour. She kept kept an eye on him for quite a while and noticed the lit up windows until far into the night on a regular basis. There's no doubt about her neighbour (Marius Semmling) being Bluebeard, the women slayer for the gothic tale.
A self-fulfilling prophecy accompanies the proceedings and she decides - like in the fairy tale - to overcome her fears and enter the forbidden chamber...
Will she survive this night and at what price? And what role does the initially helpful driver (Rüdiger Hauffe) play, who seems to carry a dark secret?
